NORTH CANTERBURY WINE AND FOOD FESTIVAL

On Sunday the 8th of March, the coolest little wine festival in the country is back, bringing the good times to Glenmark Domain. Join in and celebrate the expressive flavours of North Canterbury, with a day of feasting, drinking, and grooving under the oaks. Muster your mates, pack a picnic rug and spend the day cruising around this intimate little affair.

TUNES

Keeping you on your toes. It ain’t a festival without some laid-back beats. Get ready for a heady mix of local talent, folk legends and DJs as they keep the dance floor rolling. Anika Moa is returning home to play her celebrated soulful sounds (with trademark wit and banter), and crowd-pleasing local folk monsters The Eastern return to play their foot stompin’ grooves. Try not to dance, we double dare you.

FAMILY

Bring your small folk. North Canterbury Wine & Food is a totally family friendly affair that’s the perfect free-range family festival, a safe adventure, with fun and food for all ages from toddlers to teens. Little party people have plenty to do, with a veggie animal competition, face painting, petting zoo and pony rides. Kids under 18 party for free. North Canterbury Wine & Food Festival promises to be fun for the entire whānau.

TALK TENT

Feed your curiosity. Tune in to the local food and wine movement with curated discussions at the talk tent. The festival has paired up some of the best wine producers, chefs and makers in the region, all of whom share a vision of showcasing the quality produce from our land and sea. Listen to producers and growers debate sustainability, terroir, and tūrangawaewae, all while sharing tastes from across their tables.

MAKERS

Made here with heart. Hands on classes and a makers market gather artisans from across Canterbury to share their skills for the day. Think classes with floral extraordinaire Mrs Bottomley’s Flowers, spoon carving and doll making with the team from ReKindle and beer tasting with local experts Brew Moon. Make sure you swing by the makers market featuring a special collection to taste, take away, or add to your home.

FOOD

It’s harvest time. The festival brings together favourite local chefs, bakers, makers and food trucks for a juicy festival feast. Foodie legends Inati are back, complemented by more gourmet goodness from Kaikoura Cheese, The Burger Joint, Grater Goods, Grizzly, Utopia Ice, Vagabond Chefs, Flips Pancakes, Cakes by Anna, Smoke & Barrel, and a whole heap more. Come hungry.

WINE

Naturally. There’s a reason North Canterbury is the insider’s top spot for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay – so why not come and experience the wine that’s making waves all over the world. Meet your local producers, hear their stories and taste their remarkable wines. For the non-wine connoisseurs, Brew Moon has your beer back, plus Vesuvio are breaking out of their bar to come and serve sangria.
