When I think of defining a staycation, I would say it is travelling away from home, but not too far from it. We should all look at this time as an opportunity. Less travel means more time for enjoyment! Hanmer Springs, Wanaka, Queenstown, Akaroa, Hokitika, Auckland, and Wellington are now all easily within our grasps once again.

Whether you are upping your slope style with a pair of Sorel boots – a classic look and style that has rocked the warmth of the world for generations – or maybe you are out for a much-needed night on the town in cocktail couture?

Or are you the type to indulge in lazy lunching? Either way, a multi- faceted wardrobe must be accommodating to short stays away, and all of the new adventures that await us as we embrace these closer comforts.

For this month’s couture collection, I focused on places that have personally touched me as I have travelled all over New Zealand and embraced boutique shopping experiences from island to island. There are little gems all over, and you can search for style to suit every town you traverse through.

With a plane or train to catch, we also want to be prepared. With different destinations calling for different digs, it all starts with a useful carrying case for all your accessories. The Louis Vuitton BB Case comes to the rescue. This case reminds me of my camping and scouting days, where you simply took only what you need.

Classy casual is the key to comfort, regardless of season. Make investments in key pieces that can transition with you throughout the day. This state of a new normality is here to stay, and we must adapt accordingly.

Style is included in this process. Focusing on what’s important will assist in allowing you to shop smart, travel light, and easily unpack this season.
