Paint the town pastel
New Regent Quarter is Ōtautahi’s only complete heritage streetscape. With a quirky array of unique boutique stores, dynamic bars and restaurants, accommodation and, of course, diverse entertainment. Start your day with a coffee and brunch or lunch at one of the many restaurants, followed by some retail therapy. While you shop in the sun, the kids are just around the corner at the Margaret Mahy Playground or at a show at the Isaac Theatre Royal. Grab a tram afterwards to visit the city centre, and be back to catch the sunset and enjoy a beautiful cocktail and dinner before heading to a performance yourself at one of the three venues close by. The street is aptly nicknamed the ‘Soul of the City’. Come experience it for yourself!
GIN GIN
Located in the heart of the city, Gin Gin is right at home within the colourful New Regent Street. Inside, the rooms, spaces, and nooks create an atmosphere that’s right at home with its lush decor. Want to host your own private event? Gin Gin has options to suit from 15 patrons to 80 – and a number of spaces available for sit-down or drinks and nibbles functions. Gin Gin is open six days a week, and bookings are available for dining (and recommended).

STORY
Story is an intimate dining space on New Regent Street. Your culinary experience with Chef Shafeeq involves using local ingredients with a twist. Story sources ingredients from local growers as much as possible, and uses fresh seasonal produce to create a fine dining experience for guests. This is reflected in the ever-changing menu. The set menu is the best way to enjoy a night out or just pop in for a few plates from the bar snack menu, with a glass of wine in a relaxed environment. Want to bring Story to you? The team are always available for out-catering, where they can cater for your next dinner party or function, small or large, in your home or chosen venue – they’d love to plan your next unique event with you!
